Every year on Memorial Day here in Hawaii, there is a floating lantern ceremony to show respect and memory for those beautiful soldiers past and present, fallen and not and this year, I decided to take part.
Around noon, Mike took me to pick up a lantern to customize for the ceremony later that night.

All four sides of the lantern. One for each of my military siblings.
When we got to the ceremony around 6:30 it was packed. There were so many people, the energy was amazing, and the sun was getting ready to set. It was absolutely beautiful.
There was a stage where songs were sang in Hawaiian while beautiful hula was performed. It was incredible.
People came around to light your lanterns for you when the bell rang.
It took a while to get to the water to release the lantern, but by then there were tons of lanterns out on the water and with the sunset, it was perfect. The energy and spiritual feelings of the ceremony was beyond amazing.
Breathtaking. Tears, smiles, simply spiritual.
The sunset was unreal!
Finally releasing my lantern. This was for my two brothers and older sister who were all in three different military branches.
After the ceremony, Mike and I went to one of our favorite bars to have a couple beers and listen to some great, local, live music. It was a wonderful day.
How was your Memorial Day? How did you commemorate those past and present soldiers?
