Hawaii Hikes: Mount Olomana (Three Peaks)

Hiking is one of my favorite activities to do. And living in Hawaii, I have access to some of the best. Whether strenuous or easy, the prize (view) at the end makes it all worth it.

If you've been around here before, you know of my series Hawaii Hikes. I'm about to show you one of the sketchiest, most strenuous, most beautiful hikes (in my opinion) on the island of Oahu - Mount Olomana or also known as, the Three Peaks.

This hike is not only long in time, but very hard in difficulty. I recently posted Stairway to Heaven, and if you thought that one was sketchy, you're in for a treat with this hike. The boys and I went to the first peak a couple years ago, and ever since we've been dying to complete all three peaks. I am definitely feeling the work it took to complete this hike, but I'm so happy we decided to do it this week. Unfortunately my Nikon died halfway through, so a lot of these photos are iPhone quality. Photos never do these hikes justice, but you'll get the point :) Enjoy!

**Disclaimer: All photos were taken by ME or Mike with my Nikon Cool Pix L120 or iPhone4. Please do not crop, copy, or use as your own.**

We had to walk a while through a golf club to get to the beginning of the trail.

Mike got me new hiking boots for my birthday. I finally got to break them in :)

The view from the first peak.

Heading towards peaks two and three.

The lens became foggy from all of the moisture in the air.

Look closely and you can see me :)

Heading towards peak three.

This hike is definitely the hardest I have done thus far on the island of Oahu, but boy was it worth it. It's been two days and I'm unable to move, my body hurts so bad from being sore (could also be because of my run last night on top of being sore). I definitely don't recommend this for beginner hikers. You have to be experienced to complete this entire trail. It took us about 4-5 hours to complete the entire hike with some rests at each peak included.

As we were walking back to the car, Mike decided to go into the woods and get a coconut.

And this is what scared him away...

He still managed to get the coconut :)

P.S. Sorry this was so long. Thanks for reading all the way :)

So pretty! You've really found some amazing trails to hike out there! The last 2 pictures made me laugh, I don't blame him for being a bit scared!!

Ah!! I need to get back to do the other two peaks! Did you go back up? Was it harder going up the ropes than down?

Great photos! I almost did this one last August, but there wasn't a time when my man and I could do it together and he told me I shouldn't do it alone. So I did some easy, safe stuff by myself! Now that the semester's over and he's almost finished with his deployment, I'll be heading back to Oahu for the summer in just a couple of weeks! I can't wait to check out the cool trails I didn't catch last time.
