And The Winner Is....

If you've been following me for any time (especially on Twitter) you know by now that I am completely obsessed with pageants. As a former (ohhh just a has been :( ) I love keeping up with all things beauty/scholarship pageants!

Last night was the Miss Universe Pageant held in Las Vegas. I tried SO hard to get tickets and come up with the money to be able to attend this pageant. Miss Universe is held in different countries every year so it was actually reachable for me to go to it since it was being held here in the United States. Sadly, it didn't work out.

But, that is definitely not going to stop me from being interested in it. And this year our Miss USA, Olivia Culpo from Rhode Island had a great shot at winning the crown, on her face alone. This girl is the definition of facially, stunning, beauty. And after all - it is a BEAUTY pageant.

Olivia gracing the stage with her presence in the Opening Number.

I totally thought Melinda Bam, Miss South Africa had is in the bag. That girl was fierce. Sex on a stick. And she knew it. Brought her A game and owned the Miss Universe stage. Perfect in ever phase, except, she didn't get the call for Top 5. Sometimes, pure perfection doesn't win in pageants - and as an enthusiast, I can applaud that.

The pageant was such a nail bitter. USA has not had a winner for Miss Universe since 1997. That's 15 years people. When Olivia kept getting the call to advance, I literally would scream and yell like I actually know the girl in real life. But I don't.

She smoked the competition in Swimsuit phase and easily advanced in the Top 10.

Umm.. is she serious right now?! Olivia worked very hard and was on a strict diet to accomplish this bod. You go girl!

Her Evening Gown choice stirred up a little bit of controversy, but honestly, with a face that beautiful, I thought her choice was pure genious. She looked elegantly, REGAL on stage. Fit for the Miss Universe crown!

In my opinion, it was perfect. Hair up, just the right amount of skin showing. Her styling was On. Point.

The judges must have agreed because this beauty advanced to the Top 5. Which hasn't happened for USA since 2007 when Rachel Smith placed 4th Runner Up.

Included in the Top 5 were Venezuela, Australia, Brazil, and Phillippines.

Stunning beauties, but I was so sad that France and South Africa missed the cut!

Even though USA was my obvious choice, I was also a huge fan of Miss France and I definitely had Miss South Africa as the winner from the beginning.

France

South Africa

Can you see now why I thought South Africa would win?

Anywho...

The judges must have loved Olivia because...... SHE WON!!!

Miss USA captured the Miss Universe crown for the first time in 15 years!!!

The results were:

4th Runner Up - Brazil
3rd Runner Up - Australia
2nd Runner Up - Venezuela
1st Runner Up - Phillippines
Miss Universe 2012 - USA

I love the suspense of the Final Two.

Olivia is the winner!!!

Congrats Olivia! Even though I don't know you, I am so excited for you and will live vicariously through you on your journey as Miss Universe 2012.

Ok I'm done with the pageant craze :)

Don't forget to enter these giveaways!!

I have no idea how a judge could even differentiate between contestants, they are all so stunning!
